Loam is the spirit of healthy soil, the dreams of a happy garden and a fertile earth, the conductor of magic in and among the dirt.
Loam took almost a year to complete. In that time they were tended too almost constantly. They went through an extensive metamorphosis until arriving here, fully formed.
They are made of new long pile mohair, viscose and vintage fabric. They are filled with wool, wood shavings and glass beads for weight. They are jointed in 7 places, (the first creature I've made with a knee joint) making them highly posable.
The crystals on their head were dug up with my own hands in upper Michigan. The star on their heart was made with the fabric from a 100 year old family wedding dress. They are threadbare and beautifully strange, whimsical and earthy. Beeswax was used for detailing.
They are not suitable for children and should be kept away from direct sunlight and moisture.
